Administration
The Borough office is located on the second floor at 424 Main Street. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office handles sewage and garbage billing and collections, business privilege tax collections; issues building permits and regulates zoning.

Police Department and Mayor's Office
The Police Department is located at the rear of 424 Main Street. The Department
is staffed with a Chief and four full time officers.
The Police are dispatched through the 911 emergency band. Voice mail messages
for police officers are taken on (724) 864-3103.

The Mayor is elected at large from the general populace of the Borough and serves a four (4) year term. The duty of the Mayor is to oversee the activities of the Police Department. Mayor Dan Rose, can be reached at (724) 864-3102.
Street Department
The Borough Street Department provides a number of services to the residents and businesses such as snow removal, maintenance of catch basins, sanitary sewer lines and general park maintenance. A unique service provided by this department is the Leaf Pickup. Beginning the last week of October and continuing to the third week of November (weather permitting) the Street Dept. uses a leaf vacuum machine to dispose of resident's leaves. The leaves can be raked to the curb line for removal. PLEASE - Do not rake leaves onto paved portion of the street!

Fire Department
Irwin Volunteer Fire Dept. serves Irwin and surrounding communities. Funds to support the Fire Department are raised through an annual fund drive. Contributions are gratefully accepted at any time by contacting the Department. The Fire Department located on Western Avenue functions with all volunteers that number around 25 active members. Emergency fire calls are through the 911 system. The non-emergency number is (724) 864-3104.
General Info:
Garbage service is provided through an outside contractor, currently Waste Management. Residents are permitted an unlimited number of containers of household garbage each week. One large bulky item can be disposed of one time per month with the first pick up of the month. Yard Waste such as grass clippings and leaves can be bagged and small branches should be bundled and will be collected with the weekly garbage. Building Materials - are not acceptable for removal as normal household garbage.
Bus service is provided through Westmoreland County Transit Authority. Busses run from downtown Irwin to the local malls and to downtown Pittsburgh, phone 1-800-221-9282 for schedule information.
